Howard Guest Cabin
This cozy cabin was completed in May 2004 for Jay Howard & Pam Slovak. The owners wanted to create the feeling of an old-timey Colorado log home, without the expense of using full log walls. Dan used standard framing techniques for the project, and then gave the cabin a board and batten exterior and used hand-peeled logs for the structural members of the front porch. As guests approach the cabin, some are heard to remark, "What a cute log cabin!"
The cabin also features Dougas fir plank flooring with wrought-head nails, to help convey a sense of timeless quality to the interior.

In 1984, Dan remodelled this 1930's home in Glen Ellyn, IL, adding a full basement, and completely replacing the left side of the house.
